Dance-a-thon

My most recent idea of ways to raise money for Oxygen is that I am going to undertake my own Dance-a-thon some of you may no that I am a shockingly bad dancer who's style is remarkably similar  to a 5 year old who has has way too much sugar! But for some reason people seem to like it when I dance so I have decided to do a 24 hour long dance, I'm hoping to try and get a few other people involved with this, and I'm still looking for a venue where can do this, although I am wondering about doing it on the streets of Kingston, although I guess it would have to be a headphone rave as I don't have a license to play music publicly, won't be as fun but still should be do-able. but yes aside from informing you of what I'm going to be getting up to (so you can sponsor me) I'm also still looking to find another 9 hours worth of music to dance to so if you could please send me any suggestions, by commenting tweeting at me, facebooking me, emailing me, or if you have spotify I'v set up a collaborative playlist here, which you can add songs to. I look forward to listening to all your suggestions : )

God bless

How to donate to Oxygen

Unfortunately Oxygen isn't on just giving so I'm unable to set up a just giving page but if you do want to donate you can give to them here just follow the links from the make a donation arrow it's fairly self explanatory. So get giving and dig deep remember you can never out give God.

Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.  (Philippians 4:14-20 ESV)

A Hair Raising Idea

Well Basically I have had an idea to try and raise some money for Oxygen, I'm going to cut off all my hair from my head (wet shaved close) and then I will not cut it again until the end of the year where it is up to you lovely people to vote/ suggest what I should have done to my hair and no matter what the winning idea is I will have my hair cut like that, be it mohawk, dyed bright green or pink or any arrangement of colours, providing you donate enough money to cover the costs and to make a decent contribution to Oxygen. As another point of interest I will also photograph myself each day hopefully to make a time-lapse of my hair growing oh and we'll video getting it shaved off and then cut how you decide it should be.

So start sending in your suggestions

(I'll let you all know how you can sponsor this process when I've figured out the best way)

Intro

I'm not really sure how to explain the purpose of this blog so I'll tell you a bit about myself and more specifically what I'm doing this year and then how this blog kind of fits in...

My name is Jack Bishop, last year I was studying drums at Nexus which is a Christian music collage that is incredible, I was a long long way away from being the best drummer (only just scraping the foundation qualification that Nexus offers) but none the less I loved my year there, particularly enjoying the biblical studies, basically God moved me a lot last year and I felt that he still had a fair amount of work that he wanted to continue in me which in a round about way is how I've ended up at Oxygen
Oxygen is a part of YFC (Youth For Christ) which are a really good christian youth work charity. Oxygen is based in Kingston upon Thames, and runs various projects around this borough, I help out at; the two after school clubs (RM1); one of the youth groups run on the Kingsnympton council estate and I'm also involved with the basement which is currently being reshaped and is kind of a work in progress so is hard to explain. This year is really taking me out of my comfort zone as I'm naturally one of the most introverted person your ever likely or rather not likely to meet, so as you might guess this year is forcing me out of my shell and causing me to rely on God's strength and not my own ability, which is actually going better than I thought it would and I'm really enjoying everything thus far. Another thing that these two years are teaching me is how to answer the question "Who am I?" and helping me to put my identity in Christ. So now you know a (very) little bit about me and kind of why I'm at oxygen I'll explain some of the purpose of this blog:
1) To help keep those of you who are interested in my life and journey updated.
2) This week I have been set three challenges:
-Getting Oxygen into the media.
-Raising £4,000 (to cover the cost of me being at Oxygen and to help keep Oxygen running)
-To bless people (to proclaim good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor) with just £20.

So I have made this Blog with the purpose of trying to complete these challenges by asking you to give me money; telling you all about Oxygen and asking you all to spread the news; and to ask you to try and help me bless those who need blessing, I have also set up a Facebook group with another of the gap year workers who I'm working with at Oxygen which has a similar purpose.

So if any of you have any ideas of how I can do any of this I would be most grateful, you can comment below, email me at jack.bishop@oxygen-online.org, facebook me, ring me, text me, talk to me, wave  or any other way you may have of contacting me I would love to hear from you all.
God bless.

yours in Christ
Jack
